What should I call my service? Why the right name matters for your mozzarella show

A name is not just a label. It tells a story, defines an identity and helps shape how people perceive an experience.

In the world of events and weddings, where every detail communicates something, choosing the right name for an innovative food service becomes essential. This is even more true when the service does not simply serve a product, but invites guests into a live experience.

When we talk about preparing mozzarella live in front of guests at an event or wedding, we are talking about something that goes far beyond traditional catering.

We are talking about a multisensory experience that combines:

  • an ancient artisanal tradition
  • a moment of show and entertainment
  • a unique gastronomic experience
  • a lasting memory for guests

And yet, despite the strength of this service, there is still confusion around what it should be called.

In the events and hospitality industry, this type of service is often called by many different names. Some terms are widely used, but they do not always communicate the true value of the experience.

“Cheesemaker corner” or “cheesemaker island”
These names suggest a static space, almost separate from the rest of the event. Mozzarella preparation, however, is dynamic, engaging and able to create movement around it.

“Mozzarellaio” or “casaro”
These terms refer to the person, the professional, but not to the complete service. They do not describe the presentation, the storytelling, the tasting and the interaction with guests.

“Mozzarella show cooking” or “cheesemaker show cooking”
“Show cooking” captures the performative element, but it risks simplifying the artisanal craft too much, making it sound like entertainment only. Here, instead, the sense of spectacle comes from an authentic gesture and a real tradition.

“Dairy man” or “Mozzarella man”
These English terms sound generic and commercial. They feel distant from the Italian identity that belongs to mozzarella and do not convey the care, manual skill and story behind the service.

After years of experience in the industry, I have understood that none of these terms truly captures the essence of what I offer my clients.

It is not just a corner or an island. The service is not confined to one space, but becomes an integral part of the event, creating moments of conviviality within the venue.

I am not just a cheesemaker. Artisanal preparation is essential, but the role goes further: there is storytelling, connection with guests, education and the creation of an experience.

It is not just a show. There is a spectacular element, but it is authentic, not staged. The magic lies in the real process: the milk, the stretched curd, the hands, the gesture, the freshly made product.

It is not a generic service. Every event is different, and the service is adapted to the clients’ needs, seasonality, venue and type of celebration.

Finding the right name for such a unique service was a challenge. It had to respect the Italian tradition of mozzarella, while also communicating the experiential element and guest involvement.

It had to evoke quality, craftsmanship and uniqueness. It had to be memorable, distinctive and work well both in Italian and in international contexts, where the idea of a wedding in Italy is often linked to the charm of tradition, hospitality and gastronomic culture.

I spent months reflecting, testing different options with clients and colleagues, observing guests’ reactions during events, until the path became clearer.

So, what is my service called?

The answer to this question deserves special attention. In the next video and in the next article, I will reveal the name I have chosen for my service and, above all, the journey that led me to this decision.

Because a name is not just a word: it is the first chapter of a story that continues to be written at every event, with every mozzarella-making moment, and with every smile of wonder on a guest’s face.
